Colossal COTA event set to conclude 2016 Radical Cup North America.
Less than a week after the World Endurance Championship ascends on Circuit of the Americas, Radical will take center stage at the Texas track for the season finale of the Radical Cup North America, September 23-25. Best yet, there is still time to enter.

“We’re expecting the largest grid of Radicals ever assembled on the continent,” said Ian Dawson of Radical Texas who is hosting the event. “There will be drivers representing Brazil, Canada and Mexico, as well as every region of the United States from California to Illinois, Texas to Florida, Nevada to New York.”

The COTA weekend follows competitive championship rounds at Sebring International Raceway, Virginia International Raceway and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, as well as the 1340 Can-Am Challenge at Autobahn Country Club.

Four championships– Masters (turbo and V8 powered RXC and SR8 machinery), SR3 1500, SR3 1340 and RXC V6 (normally aspirated)– will be decided in Texas which will feature two endurance races and a sprint race, along with ample practice and qualifying sessions.

“A number of amazing storylines will be playing out,” added Tom Drewer, Radical Sportscars Regional Manager for North America. “A father and son, Peter and Drew Heffring, currently lead the 1500 and 1340 classes.

“The 1500 class will be highly competitive with multiple race winner Richard Thomas trying to claw back the championship, and Brazilians Roberto Dal Pont and Luiz Abbade are right up there. European Masters regular Jim Booth will be trying for podiums in two countries in two weeks [Booth will also be competing at Monza], and former Radical Cup stars from the West Coast such as Ethan Stone and last year’s COTA winner Ron Fletcher will also be ones to watch.

“The 1340 class will be just as exciting with a number of Chicago drivers– Jeff Green, Luis Cordero, Tony Weir and Antoine Comeau– vying with Drew for the top three championship positions. Comeau is impressively quick– he won the 1340 Can-Am Challenge earlier this year.

“The Masters class will be a battle between points leader Jesse Menczer, Florida’s Chuck Quinton, and two locals who shared last year’s wins– Carlo Dimarco and Shane Morris. As for RXC V6 class, points leader Howard Jacobs is travelling from Florida to take it to the Texans.”
