Radical Cup North America returns in 2016 commencing with five-day festival at Sebring Jan 20-24.
Continental Radical Cup racing returns to North America in 2016 with the announcement of four Radical Cup Masters events, beginning with an eight-race, five-day festival at Sebring International Raceway in Florida, January 20-24, held in conjunction with PBOC Winterfest.

This will be followed by festivals on May 27-29 at Virginia International Raceway, July 29-31 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (formally known as Mosport) near Toronto, and September 23-25 at Circuit of the Americas near Austin, Texas.

Open to all Radical models, each Masters event will feature two Radical-exclusive sprint races to create an eight round Radical Cup North America drivers championship.

Spec-classes will exist for factory configured 1340cc and 1500cc SR3 cars, V8 powered RXC, Spyder and SR8 models, as well as V6 and Turbo powered RXC cars, fitted with sealed Radical/RPE/Powertec engines and running spec Dunlop tires.

Along with two exclusive Radical Cup races the January Sebring event will feature a six-hour endurance race on Thursday, a 90-minute enduro on Friday, and four additional sprint on Saturday and Sunday to offer Radical owners the additional test of true multi-class racing between GT and prototype sports cars. Competitors will be able to opt for an alternative race length of 30 mins in each of the endurance races.

It is expected over 20 Radicals will compete at Sebring with Radical dealers Drive For Success (Florida), Radical Canada, Team Stradale (Illinois) and WISKO Race Engineering (Virginia) already committed to supporting the event. Further competitors, teams and dealers are expected from as far as Texas and the West Coast. Starting at $1325, three and five day Radical Cup packages exist. Single day race entries are also available (Click here to enter).

“This marks the return of the highly successful national Radical Cup in 2013 and 2014, which produced a number of talents including current IMSA LMPC drivers John Falb [2014 Radical Cup SR3 Champion] and Todd Slusher [2013 Radical Cup Rookie of the Year]”, said Radical Sportscars North American representative Tom Drewer.

“With over 400 cars sold in the US, Canada and Mexico, Radical is the most prolific sports prototype of its kind in North America. It’s fantastic to once again offer a national or continental championship for our customers, adding to the continually growing number of regional series and racing venues that exist for Radical Sportscars.”

The Radical Cup North America championship complements the regional Radical Cup Texas and the Radical Canada Cup series. Private tracks Autobahn Country Club near Chicago, Monticello Motor Club near New York, and Spring Mountain near Las Vegas also offer exclusive Radical member racing.

Most Radical models are eligible for local CASC, FARA, NASA and PBOC events, while the SCCA recently approved ‘as delivered’ and ‘Cup spec’ Radical SR3s, including the latest generation SR3 RSX for P2 competition in 2016. This followed Radical’s success at the 2015 SCCA Runoffs at Daytona where an SR3 finished runner up and set a new track lap record in the P2 class.
