Radical takes lap record and runner-up at 2015 Daytona SCCA Runoffs.
The Radical SR3 has once again proven its might during the 52nd running of the Sports Car Club of America’s Runoffs at Daytona– one of the most coveted club racing events in North America.

The SR3 of Jeff Shafer (One Motorsports / Radical SR3 1500 / Dunlop) finished second in the P2 class and took the honor of recording the fastest lap of the race to set a new track lap record at Daytona of 1:52.355 with an average speed of 114mph and over 161mph in the speed trap around the famed ’24 hour’ course. The Stohr of Chris Farrell took the class win.

All Radical SR3s, including the latest generation SR3 RSX, are eligible to race in the P2 class without any modification from their factory delivered ‘Radical Cup’ specification, making the SR3 a true turn-key option in a class dominated by one-off creations and modified cars.

“I think a lot of people were impressed just how competitive a Radical can be in the P2 class,” said Shafer.

“I think we turned some heads. This car isn’t a one-off creation or a mega-dollar car. Knowing that you can race against Radicals in the spec-series one weekend and not have to change a thing to be able to match the best of them in quite an open class like P2 is a testament to just how good the Radical SR3 is.

“We won in California and won at Road America to qualify for the Runoffs. We worked really hard all week, and it’s been neck and neck with Chris. In the end he was able to hold me off, but I think setting a new track record at Daytona proved the point. The SCCA’s P2 class is a great venue for the Radical SR3, and the SR3 is a great car in P2.”
