Radical takes class podiums in prestigious 25 Hours of Thunderhill race.
Radical SR3s have claimed two ESR class podium finishes at the 2014 NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill in California, with ONE Motorsports cars #62 and #48 finishing second and third in class behind the outright winning #17 Davidson Racing 2008 Norma M20F BMW. The driver line-ups for each car were a who’s who of racing identities.

Car #62, Team Vegas/DiscTech/ONE Motorsports (2010 Radical SR3), was driven by the 2014 Radical Cup USA SR8 champion Jesse Menczer, 2014 Radical Cup USA SR3 champion John Falb, 2013 Radical Cup USA rookie of the year Todd Slusher and Radical Cup driver coach and Tudor United SportsCar Championship star Sean Rayhall.

Car #48, Team CrowdStrike / ONE Motorsports (2009 Radical SR3), featured its own Tudor star with 2014 LMPC champion Colin Braun joining 2013 Radical Cup USA SR8 Champion Gerhard Watzinger, 2014 Radical Cup USA SR3 runner up George Kurtz as well as Radical Cup front runner Dave House. Braun has been coaching Kurtz and Watzinger for the past few years.

Interestingly a number of those drivers also compete in the IMSA Prototype Lites Championship using Elan’s carbon monocoque single seat DP-02 chassis, but chose to use the robust yet lightweight SR3 to contest the NASA Thunderhill 25 Hours.

In an event preview for IMSA.com, car #62 driver Todd Slusher spoke of how the NASA Thunderhill 25 Hours has become one of the ultimate challenges for both man and machine.

“This is a great endurance event. We go against factory teams and drivers. The conditions are intense. At night, it will get down to 20 degrees. It rains a lot and you're in the car for two to three hours at a time. You're basically on call during the event; you never know when they'll need to throw you in the car."

Slusher’s Radical SR3 also had the honor of starting from the front row of the grid for the 2014 event after qualifying second in tricky wet conditions.

IMSA.com reported that NBC Sports is planning to feature ONE Motorsports in an upcoming show about the 25 Hours of Thunderhill, "Survive the 25." For updates on ONE Motorsports and the NBC show follow the team on Facebook and Twitter at @OneMotorsports.
